Malaga Cove Engagement Photos: Mark + Shauna
Who doesn’t love sunset engagement photos on a private beach in LA? Darling engagement session at Malaga Cove in sunny Los Angeles.
You could never tell from these engagement photos but it was cold cold COLD this day— Luckily Mark and Shauna brought the heat! They even braved the water barefoot— I really couldn’t believe how many risks they were willing to take.
Rancho Palos Verdes is certainly known for its many breathtaking beaches so it is difficult to choose one for an engagement session. I typically suggest either Abalone Cove or Malaga Cove because of how simple it is to access the beach. Malaga Cove Plaza is just a few minutes away from the beach if couples are looking for a little variety in their engagement pictures.
Mark and Shauna currently live in Long Beach where Mark works for the Coast Guard and Shauna is a pre-school teacher in Newport Beach. They actually fell in love in Hawaii where they were introduced through mutual friends and they hope to return to the big island in the near future.
Shauna’s is a free-spirit with compassionate demeanor making everyone around her feel safe. It is so sweet the way Mark held her in his arms during the shoot in order to keep her warm. Some times you meet a couple and you just know that their love is absolutely real.
They will be getting married at The Queen Mary for what is sure to be an incredible wedding on the water…

Some times you need two sessions so you can have your engagement photos with your dog! After their engagement photos at Greystone Mansion, Megan and Matt picked up Toby, their adorable Wiener Dog. I met the trio at El Matador Beach in Malibu, Ca where we traversed down the incredibly steep stairwell to finally arrive at the beach.
El Matador is majestic— it feels like a movie. Fitting for a couple that looks like celebrities! Toby was so sweet and never left their side. He is such an important part of their life and I am so happy we got to include him in their awesome engagement session!

The Mayan Theatre
This beautiful couple is getting married at Rolling Hills Country Club this summer. I met them through a previous bride and we immediately hit it off. Downtown Los Angeles was the perfect locations for their engagement shoot with so many great spots near one another. Roxanne loved the architecture outside The Mayan Theatre in LA so that is where we began our shoot! Right off the bat I knew this session was going to be epic. They are clearly so in love. It is so cute how he sweeps her hair back while kissing her forehead. And the way she looks up at him before resting her head on his chest. The sweetest!
The Mayan Theatre was closed that afternoon which made for the perfect engagement photos with hardly anyone about. After a couple moments taking in this old Los Angeles theatre we made our way to our second location for the afternoon
Pershing Square
Just down the street from The Mayan is Pershing Square. This park takes up an entire city block and is completely dwarfed by the surrounding skyscrapers. I loved shooting against the colorful walls at Pershing Square. One of my favorite images is Roxi and Farbod against the yellow wall. Their love really shines! Pro Tip for photographers and couples alike looking to do a shoot here: You most definitely need a photo permit to shoot at Pershing Square. So prepare in advance!
Walt Disney Concert Hall
Couples ask all the time: what should I wear for engagement photos? My answer is always the same: use it as an excuse to get dressed up a little fancier then normal. Think of it like an elegant date-night out on the town with your fiancee… only with a photographer present! Needless to say Roxi and Farbod absolutely y blew me away with their wardrobe choices for the final location. We completed the engagement session at The Walt Disney Concert Hall. I just love the mirrored walls with its cartoonish facade. Not to mention the views of the Los Angeles streets are just fantastic!
Such a beautiful evening with another amazing couple!
Brouwerij West Wedding- Stephanie and Luis
Brouwerij West Brewery Wedding in San Pedro, California
Stephanie and Luis' wedding at the Brouwerij West was absolutely perfect! All the details that went in to making their day were tailored to the unique vision of the couple. Stephanie was simply stunning in her amazing, lacy dress from Dreamers and Lovers. Not to mention incredibly comfortable and relaxed in a pair of Bridal TOMS! So cute and fitting for the laid back bride she was through this entire process!
The ceremony was held in adjacent warehouse with beautiful lighting, bright florals and a simple wooden arch. After the ceremony the couple stuck around for a few photos in the empty warehouse where their ceremony was held. After that, it was to the dance floor where I could have sworn her guests were professional dancers. They really knew how to cut the rug!
Such a fun night with such a loving couple!

Kelsey + Eric’s engagement session in Downtown Long Beach. Stocked full with colorful murals in my favorite city… These two are getting married at The Vintage Rose in 2019 and I am so excited :-)
These beautiful people are getting married at The Vintage Rose in early 2019. As local Long Beach wedding photographers it was a pleasure to shoot Kelsey and Eric’s engagement photos here. Long Beach has some of the best photo locations— In my opinion, it is definitely becoming a rival to the arts district in Los Angeles. Local Long Beach artists for the past couple years have participated in the Pow Wow project which commissions artists to paint murals on the city walls.
We explored a ton of amazing murals around the city starting at Hoonigan and even hit up Steelcraft in between. Eric even brought along the second most important thing in his life-- his awesome Mini Coop.
All things ended at The Varden Hotel where there is an incredible mural. I feel really lucky to have met these two people as they are funny, kind and great company! Definitely, looking forward to their wedding early next year....

Downtown Los Angeles Night Engagement Photos: Julie + Jon (Part II)
An epic night time engagement shoot in Downtown Los Angeles. Part II of Julie + Jon's engagement session - Locations: Walt Disney Concert Hall + The Broad + John C. Ferraro
Here is the second part of Julie and Jon's engagement session. The sun and light had mostly receded behind the mountain thus leaving lots of shadows but an epic sunset. To fit the dramatic sunset and elegance of the couple we changed the style and added flash to get a different feel to their photos that would enhance to their Los Angeles engagement session.
After an hour of traffic we arrived in Downtown Los Angeles. Downtown LA was the perfect setting for Julie and Jon to shoot their engagement session since they will be married at the Cicada Club just a few blocks over. Julie is also getting ready at the Biltmore Millennium!
We started at the John Ferraro Building that offers sweeping views of the downtown skyline. Despite being a Saturday during peak holiday season, everything was relatively quiet and all the more romantic! We also hit up Walt Disney Concert Hall and The Broad. Once again this fearless couple did anything to get the shot and it was because of them that we got some of these images (Like the one of them in the middle of the street for one)! I do love them so...

Rancho Palos Verdes has some of the best beaches in Los Angeles making the perfect location for an engagement session. The light was perfect and the sunset was beautiful... The winter truly has the BEST sunsets!
At dusk we wrapped up part one of their engagement session to make our way to Downtown Los Angeles for a nighttime shoot.

Brianna + Francis are remarkable people with huge hearts. You can absolutely feel the love between them. Francis adores her and cherishes the very ground she walks on. Brianna's fan lights up when he near her. They are each other's support system for sure. I had the absolute best time and I'm so excited to share their engagement session here.
